In New Video, Clyburn Encourages Americans to Report Misuse of Federal Relief Funds to Congress

Washington, D.C. (July 9, 2020) — Today, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis released a new video featuring ChairmanJames E. Clyburn, encouraging Americans to report any information that federal relief funding has been subject to waste, fraud or abuse to the Select Subcommittee. In the recorded message, Chairman Clyburn urges those with information to contact the Subcommittee's tip line online at [coronavirus.house.gov/contact/tip-line]coronavirus.house.gov/contact/tip-line or by phone at (202) 225-4400.

"With trillions of taxpayer dollars and the health and wellbeing of millions of Americans at stake, robust oversight is essential," said Chairman Clyburn. "As the only committee in Congress solely focused on ensuring the overall response to this crisis is efficient, effective, and equitable, it is our duty to ensure that funds are being spent wisely and as Congress intended to address the needs of the American people."

Modeled after the Truman Committee during World War II, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis was established by the House of Representatives on April 23, 2020, pursuant to House Resolution 935, "to conduct a full and complete investigation" of the "efficiency, effectiveness, equity, and transparency of the use of taxpayer funds and relief programs to address the coronavirus crisis."

Congress has approved over $3 trillion in federal spending to respond to this crisis, and our Committee is charged with ensuring these resources are spent efficiently, effectively, and equitably.
