Coronavirus Panel to Hold Hearing on Jobs Crisis Caused by Coronavirus Pandemic

Washington, D.C. (June 17, 2020) — Tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, 2020, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, chaired by Rep. James E. Clyburn, will hold a virtual hearing with experts and economists to examine the magnitude of the unemployment crisis, the role of federal and state unemployment support, and whether additional support is needed to achieve a sustainable economic recovery.

The hearing will also address the disparate impact of the unemployment crisis on lower-wage workers, women, and communities of color.

This comes as the country faces record-high joblessness and a projected slow economic recovery as the coronavirus continues to spread across the United States.
