Washington, D.C. (May 3, 2022) – Today, Rep. James E. Clyburn, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, issued the following statement praising President Biden’s nomination of Carlos Felipe Uriarte to be Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Department of Justice.  Uriarte previously served as Chief Counsel for Investigations to the Select Subcommittee.

“Carlos Uriarte will bring essential experience, impeccable judgment, and a tireless work ethic to the role of Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs. His success at senior roles in government and the private sector, direct experience translating between Congress and the Department of Justice, and willingness to tackle hard problems will serve him well. Mr. Uriarte joined the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis because he believed effective oversight of the executive branch would improve the government’s response to the pandemic. I know he will bring this same respect for Congress to this role.”
