Clyburn Issues Statement on GSA Head Ending Obstruction of Presidential Transition

November 23, 2020

Washington, D.C. (November 23, 2020) — Today, Rep. James E. Clyburn, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, issued the following statement after General Services Administration (GSA) Administrator Emily Murphy agreed to grant the Biden-Harris Transition Team access to critical federal funding and facilities, as required by law:

"I am pleased that the GSA Administrator has heeded our warning and finally stopped blocking the transition of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris. With the coronavirus pandemic spreading nationwide and hundreds of Americans dying from the virus each day, it is urgent that President-elect Biden and his team receive access to the critical information they need to be prepared on Day 1 to protect American lives. I call on all federal agencies immediately to begin sharing information with the Transition Team to ensure a smooth transfer of power."
