TeleHealth Platform Has Failed to Turn Over Records Related to Paid Consultations and Prescriptions for Disproven Coronavirus Treatments

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 28, 2022) — Yesterday, Rep. James E. Clyburn, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, sent a letter to SpeakWithAnMD calling for immediate compliance with the Select Subcommittee’s October 29, 2021 requests for documents and information regarding the company’s facilitation of paid consultations and prescriptions for unproven coronavirus treatments like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.

“SpeakWithAnMD and an affiliated company, Encore Telemedicine, have reportedly generated millions of dollars in revenue by facilitating thousands of paid telehealth consultations and prescriptions for disproven and potentially hazardous coronavirus treatments, such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin,” said Chairman Clyburn.  “Despite repeated assurances of compliance, SpeakWithAnMD has failed to produce any documents responsive to the Select Subcommittee’s requests.  The Select Subcommittee expects SpeakWithAnMD to fully and promptly respond to all of its document and information requests.”

The Select Subcommittee launched its investigation of SpeakWithAnMD and America’s Frontline Doctors after public reports that the two online entities were promoting coronavirus misinformation that spurred demand for unproven and potentially hazardous coronavirus treatments and then profiting by facilitating access to prescriptions for those drugs.

The Chairman’s initial letter requested documents and information related to the coronavirus-related consultations and prescriptions facilitated by SpeakWithAnMD, as well the company’s profits, revenues, organizational structure, and policies and procedures.  Despite repeated outreach from the Select Subcommittee, SpeakWithAnMD has failed to produce a single document responsive to these requests.

SpeakWithAnMD is to respond no later than February 4, 2022. Click here to read the letter.
